Oh! i speak in cvs only for website version control... it can also be used 
to configuration management, but this is another story...
I always use cvs to version controlling my web or other work, even config 
files...

Mmmmm... cvs via ssh is okay... i suppose that the people working on the site
will have ssh access to the machine, right ??? ... no need for any other open
ports, i suppose, since the repository don't need to be public.
