Actually, I think there are no problems with using a pseudo. There may be very
good reasons to do so from a privacy pov (for example, you might not want other people to know you are putting time in packing rpms for mandriva(maybe under work time?). Note that using a seemingly real name doesn't improve accountability anyway as there is no way to check it.
Screen names have been, and still are, used by many people. To say you should not use them in the beginning, but it is ok at a later stage is slightly silly as once everybody
knowns who you are, you are not going to change your name. I do not think Pascal started using Pixel only 2 years after joining mandriva?
Originially ESR said it only shouldn't be silly or grandiose. The later explanation is stupid. if some people marks you as a loser because of your name instead of because of your work, I call them juvinile losers.
Personally I regret not having used a pseudo for these lists. I do not work in computer science and a prospective employer doing a simply google for my name is going to be confused by the large amount of hits, unrelated to my scientific papers.
Let people decide themselves by what nomer they like to be addressed in this community.
