At one time, when claws was still an enhanced version of
sylpheed and was periodically synced with it most of the configurations
could be used with either.

Now that claws is totally independent it is possible that you would
need to configure it from scratch.

If you want to test it, install the claws rpms, clone your ~.sylpheed
as ~.sylpheed-claws, launch claws and see what works.
If you don't like it or it is too screwed up just 
switch back sylpheed as there is no longer any conflict
between the 2
