Out of curiosity I just put a smartmedia card with photos on it into the card 
reader on my all-in one printer and duly got the pop up asking me if I wanted  
to import photos from the device into my photo album, said yes. Then used 
find files using parameters "Named *" in /home/john during the last 2 minutes 
and found my photos in /home/john/.thumbnails/normal
