I've got to strongly recommend Digikam, even if you ae a Gnome user it is a 
far better program and has an amazing download wizard.  If you install all 
the Digikam plugins and Kipi plugins, then you will get all sorts of extra 
goodies like CD/DVD creation, html gallery export, a briliiant printing 
wizard, and an image editor with lots of features like red-eye, etc.

Not sure what version is in official, but SoS should have the latest stable 
version.
