I never used that feature, however I can very well imagine using this in
the future as part of an automatic/unattended installation method,
which would permit me to automatically install systems adding my own
repository with custom packages (think of OEM like installations). But
I'll never use this feature in the GUI I think, this should simply be an
option is auto_inst.cfg.pl, or whatever it is called now (is this still
supported by the way?)
