There are a lot of file lost, I wrote a small guide on

Bye Bye, Moreno
Hi,
Thanks for providing extra information for users that may have had problems
with it.
Now a proper fix should have been implemented in x11-server-common-19mdv,
but unfortunately there is no way to "automatically" restore what was lost
when changing the directories to symlinks. The only way would be to
"rpm -V" everything that has files in /etc/X11, /usr/lib/X11 and /usr/X11R6,
and was upgraded in the last few days, and "urpmi --replacepkgs" whatever
has missing files.
The problem correction uses the scriptlets %pretrans and %posttrans to
do some magic and "force" rpm to not remove the files it is installing :-)
To do it, first it is linked to a directory ending in ".rpmsave" in %pretrans,
so that rpm will not remove files under that "special" directory, and in
%posttrans things are fixed.
Even if for some reason the transaction is canceled in the middle, the
".rpmsave" links still works and an usable system should remain, just that
file lookups would do "an extra deference" to reach the final file.
Many tanks to Cavassin to help me with tests and research to find a proper
correction to the problem.

Just to add : related to Gustavo De Nardin email about KDE3 entry missing in kdm, after my X server repair process some of my entries disappeared also (Normal Gnome, KDE, e17...) and only some were left (Gnome/Openbox kde/Openbox):
"Le Tuesday 20 May 2008 06:47:08 Gustavo De Nardin (spuk), vous avez écrit :
"> Is the KDE4 x KDE3 brawl over? Should KDE3 now work as it worked before the
"> movings? Or when will it be over?
">
"> BTW, I think there's a missing entry in the KDM menu for KDE3. The "KDE"
"> entry there now runs KDE4...
"The last kde3 stuff to fix is the desktop files ( as pointed by thierry ).
"On Kdm, kde launch kde4 now you are right and this is wanted, but when you "install kde3 you should see a kde3 entry, do you have "/usr/share/X11/wmsession.d/05KDE3 file installed ?
In the process described by Moreno I saw some of these files missing but didn't replace them with --replacepkgs. I'll try to replace them ASAP.
