As said in my previous message, I finally managed to have X server starting, but only by doing startx then startgnome in the xterm windows that opens (where is gdm ????).
In Gnome I had a break in the keyboard config, and the gnome keyboard configurator was empty with no country available, nor even keyboard model. So I uninstalled/reinstalled x11-data-kbddata and then I was able to configure my keyboard under gnome.......
But when closing the session I had a message error, the xterm windows decoration disappeared, and at next boot my system was broken: when doing startx I have the xterm windows, but without window decoration, and each time I hit a keyboard key ..... the resolution change..... but no letter is printed on screen...
I'm not at home. Reinstalling all the x11 stuff didn't change anything. So I think it could be a gnome conf problem. Has anybody already seen that? I'll try to clear my gnome conf files to see if it solves this.

The problem is lost file in the /etc/X/dm.d.
To solve the problem urpmi --replacepkgs xinitrc
There are a lot of file lost, I wrote a small guide on
This is the the guide http://www.mandrakeitalia.org/modules/wfsection/article.php?articleid=333 and this is the Google translation http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mandrakeitalia.org%2Fmodules%2Fwfsection%2Farticle.php%3Farticleid%3D333&hl=it&ie=UTF8&sl=it&tl=en
Bye Bye, Moreno
But the strange thing is that I have only gnome/openbox and kde/openbox to choice. Normal gnome session isn't available anymore...
What is the issue?
