Well, was a little beyond my plans, but the base move are done in exactly my planned time, Friday yesterday. My expectation was have KDE 3 base and kdm3 worrking until yesterday, but i could go beyond. Pratically whole main kde3 applications are moved to /opt/kde3, kdm3 is back and we have kdm 4 too. Many kudos to neoclust that took care of keeping kde4 updating during the transitions and help in some small pieces of kde3 specs. I worked in an idea of have a kde3 easy to compile, and enabled to run kde4 apps, and vice-versa. The results: - KDE 3 got more consistency in compilation - The whole kde3-macros plan and changes in way of configure make find some issues in compilations which even kde3 not been the main now, make we have a better buildsystem and quality of packages. - KDE 4 was updated to 4.1 post alpha 1. Alpha 1 is 4.0.71, we're now building and working with 4.0.73 - KDM - Package kdm install the kde4 version, and have the priority. If for some reason you want have the kde3 version, just urpmi kdm3 or kde3-kdm and urpme kdm. - Menus are duplicated in kde4 for now, since i'm not focused in make a proper kde3/4 separation. A interesting thing can be noted if you use alt-f2 in kde4, and have same application in two versions. like gwenview. When you type, system identifies to you the both versions. - KDE4 starts kdeinit from kde3 too if exists, which make all yours autostart features from previous release works, and make easy way to run kde3 apps over kde4 seamless As i was clear in the beginning, i was not focused on upgrade issues *now*, Danilo and the rest of qa team will deal with this later in kde3. I will be focusing since now in stabilize kde4 as possible and help upstream to make it. For some special guys: Yes, you can report issues now. I will be sure that at least Danilo and Sergio will be reading this ones. So far, so good, thanks for the patience of others ones.. -- Helio Chissini de Castro Mandriva Research and Development
