 I believe there should exist a way, but I remembered how we did
it in one of the first versions of the Conectiva installer, but it
was kind of a kludge :-)
 We used grub to pass the argument, and the installer would check
/proc/cmdline for it...
 I don't remember if a less hacky option was implemented later.
