For example, this simple config in /etc/autofs/auto.master doesn't work at all: /home2 ldap://fox.conectiva/ou=automount,o=conectiva,c=br Watching the logs and network, automount doesn't even recognize this as an ldap map. This shows up in the logs (-v -d): Jan 11 16:15:30 pandora automount[13421]: Starting automounter version 5.0.1-rc2, master map auto.master Jan 11 16:15:30 pandora automount[13421]: lookup_nss_read_master: reading master files auto.master Jan 11 16:15:30 pandora automount[13421]: mount_init: mount(bind): bind_works = 1 Jan 11 16:15:30 pandora automount[13421]: lookup_read_master: lookup(file): read entry /home2 Jan 11 16:15:30 pandora automount[13421]: master_error: syntax error while parsing map. Jan 11 16:15:30 pandora automount[13421]: master_read_master: no mounts in table I updated it to version rc3 and it started working. Now the logs are: Jan 11 17:12:18 pandora automount[20984]: Starting automounter version 5.0.1-rc3, master map auto.master Jan 11 17:12:18 pandora automount[20984]: using kernel protocol version 5.00 Jan 11 17:12:18 pandora automount[20984]: lookup_nss_read_master: reading master files auto.master Jan 11 17:12:18 pandora automount[20984]: mount_init: mount(bind): bind_works = 1 Jan 11 17:12:18 pandora automount[20984]: lookup_read_master: lookup(file): read entry /home2 Jan 11 17:12:18 pandora automount[20984]: master_do_mount: mounting /home2 Jan 11 17:12:18 pandora automount[20984]: lookup_nss_read_map: reading map ldap //fox.conectiva/ou=automount,o=conectiva,c=br Jan 11 17:12:18 pandora automount[20984]: parse_server_string: lookup(ldap): Attempting to parse LDAP information from string "//fox.conectiva/ou=automount,o =conectiva,c=br".
