      Distribution: cooker
Summary: Bad memory leak in mdadm
           Product: mdadm
           Version: 2.5-2mdv2007.0
          Platform: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: high
          Priority: normal
         Component: program
        AssignedTo: bluca@comedia.it
        ReportedBy: vdanen@mandriva.com

You can view the changes I made to the Annvix package here:

http://svn.annvix.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/releases/2.0-CURRENT/mdadm/SPECS/mdadm.spec?
root=packages&r1=5663&r2=5713&diff_format=u

Pretty much the same thing should be done for the cooker package. I noticed
that in the span of a day
mdadm was sucking up about 460MB of RAM and making the machine crawl. This is
a known problem
in 2.5 that was fixed with 2.5.1 (2.5.2 is out now); I've built it and am
running it on Annvix and it's
behaving properly (memory hasn't increased a single byte since the new version
was running).

This is fairly significant and should be fixed for both cooker and CS4. Note
that I omitted CJW's big
endian patch since I don't use PPC and the changes were a little over my head
(I'm not sure if that patch
is still required).
