I will move it to HAL then, however, gnome-volume-manager is not even installed
on my machine. Hal should send apropriate message over DBUS to KDE to announce
the presence of a new device, AFAIK. I will post the lshal output later when I
get to the machine affected.

When I plug in my FireWire drive, it is not automounted. The drive is recognized
fine, though, but I have to mount it by hand afterwards. If the drive is
connected using its USB2.0 port, I get an offer from KDE to mount it right away.
