Probably your printer was not recognized as the correct model by printerdrake.

Can you attach the PPD file which your printer got (/etc/cups/ppd/*.ppd) to
this bug report?

Can you run (as root)

usb_id_test /dev/usb/lp0  (can also be /dev/usb/lp1 ...)

if your printer is on USB or (also as root)

rmmod lp ppdev parport_pc parport
modprobe lp
cat /proc/sys/dev/parport/parport*/autoprobe*

if your printer is on a parallel port?

Printer must be connected and turned on before running the commands.

When I turn the Brother printer on, it gets automatically detected. I choose to
install it. This wents fine.
However when I start to print one page with OpenOffice, then it prints one white
paper after the other and will not stop until you turn it off.
