Hi,

It seems that something went really wrong in my box in the course of recent
updates... As a last resort, I reinstalled Mandrake 10.0 and updated it with
cooker repositories again. Now SCIM 0.99.2 and UIM 0.4.1 are working
beautifully as before and as designed. :)

1. "scim -d" loads x11 FrontEnd module under any locale.
2. MCC opens in couple of seconds and another keyboard icon shows up in
systray, from where I (as root) can disable unnecessary IM engines and switch
input methods if needed.
3. All enabled input methods become available in gtk applications regardless
of locale settings. With LC_CTYPE=ja_JP (=eucjp), for example, you can use
only Japanese input methods in qt apps, but all language IM engines become
accessible in gtk apps.

James, Hirosi and Thierry, thank you so much for trying to figure out the
problem and for answering my questions. Please forgive me if I wasted your
time.

Yukiko
