I booted the kernel :)

All partitions are XFS (on a SATA HDD).   via and xfs .ko's load, and 
then it attempts to mount, errors out with 'mount error 6', tries it 
without some flags, errors out the same, tries it with no flags, 
errors out again, and then gives a 'kernel panic try passing 
init=.....' message.

I'm working off memory here, as I'm in the middle up upgrading to KDE 
3.2 goodness :)    As soon as it's done, I'll try booting 2.6.3-6mdk 
again, and write it all down....
