Hi,
Could you possibly post quick instructions on how to install this on a stock 9.2 AMD64 installation? Any hidden gotchyas?
I indeed made a quick test from a previous 9.2 install. Simply install the new kernel and the relevant dependencies (sysfsutils, mkinitrd, module-init-tools) + update to the new XFree86 packages. Then, reboot and check that 3D acceleration still works in 64-bit world.
For 32-bit stuff, install libxfree86 + deps from any 10.0/ia32 mirror. If you had the 9.2 CDs, all deps are already installed, simply rpm -Fvh the newer libxfree86 (-28mdk works). Then, in some temp directory, rpm2cpio XFree86-server-4.3-28mdk.i586.rpm | cpio -id; cp ./usr/X11R6/lib/modules/dri /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/dri/.
Extra interesting tools: glxinfo & glxgears from a 32-bit xf86 package too. You may need 32-bit libMesaGLU1 for glxinfo though.
Hope this helps.
Bye, Gwenole.
