I think you missed what he was saying..  He was saying that a distrib
COMING with a package isn't the same thing as it WORKING on that distrib. 
Getting a package to build is only half the struggle.  Getting it to run
without crashing is a far different thing.  The implication, therefore, is
that the RH/Fedora/whatever 64-bit packages may not even work on their OWN
platforms, let ALONG Mdk's.  They might have shipped code that complies
but isn't stable enough to work well, if at all.
