Thank you all for these replies. About the Suse 9.0 I saw some posts saying that it works but there one needs to change a bit the original distribution, by what I understood: http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-amd64/2004-Jan/0140.html Anyone thinks that is possible to do something similar with the mandrake distro? What about mandrake 10 beta1?? does anyone think it may work with sil 3112 sata chip? Just asking coz it takes me time to download it. Also in http://www.linuxmafia.com/faq/Hardware/sata.html they refere the libata as the driver to be used with the sil 3112. is there anyway that we could include/call this somewhere in the installation process? One question for Duncan, if possible. About the opteron CPU. Mine is the 242 and on its specs is reported that maximum case temperature is 69 degrees celsius. I installed it 3 days ago and the normal temperature reported on the BIOS is 52 degrees and the room temperature is around 23. My case is a Thermaltake Xaser III with 8 fans. My doubt is if this temperatures is a bit high or not, because I am afraid that I haven't placed the heat sink properly. best regards, Pimenta
