I'm trying to install an HP 1200 Laserjet printer under Mandrake 9.2 RC1 for
AMD 64 (Asus SK8N motherboard), and it's giving me fits.
If the printer is connected during the install, the install gets stuck in an
infinite loop (installing package, can't find package, installing package,
can't find package, etc...). So I disconnected the printer and am now
attempting to install the printer via HardDrake. This basically hangs my
system at "Searching for printers" after HardDrake prompts me for CD #1: "ps"
hangs, "ifconfig" hangs, and the reboot is troublesome at best (sometimes
requiring a power cycle). User-level functionality (e.g. "ls", "xterm",
"su", etc...) seems to be unaffected. Has this been fixed in the official
release? Is there anywhere I can download a patch?
Thanks in advance.
