[cooker-amd64] Dual Opteron hangs in openoffice

Hi,

I've been using RC1 on a dual opteron 240 tyan s2880 for about two weeks 
now and I'm very impressed with it so far (great work guys). But I'm 
having a very strange problem with openoffice.

If I start oowriter and then press the uparrow key and keep it pressed, 
within 30 seconds the entire machine locks up hard, no oops, nothing. The 
NMI watchdog doesn't even trip (though I'm not convinced that works 
anyway). The hang is 100% repeatable on my hardware.

All other apps are fine and this is the only large 32 bit ap on the system 
which is suspicious. It has run the setiathome clients (64 bit and 32 bit) 
for days.

I have tried disabling the apics (io-apic and local apic) this makes no 
difference.

I tried vanilla kernel 2.4.23, this makes no difference so it can't be a 
mandrake specific problem.

The memory is fine, ran memtest86 all night.

It's not a video problem because the same thing happens running oowriter 
over vnc.

It only happens in smp mode, up is fine.

I have tried all the available BIOSes for the board.

Here are my hardware specs

2*Opteron 240 (rev b3)
tyan k8s s2880 motherboard
adaptec 29320 scsi card
2G memory (2*512M on each CPU)

I was wondering if anybody else here has similar hardware and has seen the 
same thing. Perhaps it is one of the b3 errata not fixed by the BIOS on 
this board?
