That's why I know about SI drivers.. only w/ a Tyan board...  The model
I have (s2885) IS RedHat at least certified, and I believe from the
discussion on the Cooker list some weeks ago that SI is in fact supported
with open source drivers in newer kernels, both kernel.org and Mdk, but
I'm not sure full RAID support is up yet but it should be eventually.  SI
is supposed to be pretty open source friendly, from what I've read.

Note that (again, according to what I've read) the Promise hardware isn't
actually full SATA anyway, but PATA 133 with a SATA bridge.  That's part
of the complication since it's one thing running thru another causing all
sorts of strange issues for driver authors.  It's also why folks won't
get full 150 performance out of it.  When I read that, I was glad I didn't
go with the board that included the Promise solution.  The SI hardware is
full native SATA, AFAIK.

Again, there was a bit more discussion a few weeks ago on the
regular Cooker list..
