Sorry if I misunderstand sg here, but I believe if someone wants hw RAID
for AMD64, drivers *are* available for some Adaptec controllers. I
happen to use an Adaptec 2410SA card, which works all right with the
aacraid.o module (even though the module's source code does not list
this card as supported).
