Gwenole,

The system hangs when executing the kernel out of /boot.  Is there some way around this I'm not aware of that will let the system come up and let me do an "insmod"?  I don't know, but I imaging plugging in the PCI card on the fly would not be a good thing.

BTW, you have to explicitly insmod it, otherwise it would grab the system 
one.
